Husky Transforms into a Cougar

Q. You follow women’s basketball, and formerly were at the University of Washington, so what did you think of June Daugherty’s move to the Cougars after being fired by the Huskies?
A. My first reaction was “wow.” Any time a coach makes a transition to the rival school, it’s a tough move for all involved, but especially for the coach who has to return to her old school to play in front of a raucous crowd.
In this case, though, I’m happy for June, her husband Mike – who will be associate head coach – and their children. June has been a winner anywhere she’s been, and although the WSU opportunity looks to be a very challenging opportunity, I’m confident June and Mike are motivated and prepared to take on the task at hand in Pullman.
