The 10th Inning and Fifth Quarters
April 18th 2007
So the only time you’ve ever heard of a 10th inning is when a baseball or softball team goes into extra innings, right? Well, 10th inning also has another purpose besides playing extra innings.
The 10th inning for some college and professional baseball teams is also an opportunity to offer fans a chance to receive autographs from their favorite players and coaches.
The Fifth Quarter for college and professional football teams also serves a similar purpose following games in the fall.
Fans meet in an indoor area – typically a large gymnasium – where the head coach addresses the fans with a post-game recap of the team’s performance, and then is available – along with a few players – to take pictures and sign autographs.
If you don’t presently host a 10th inning, a fifth quarter or a similar post-game event for your sports team, you may want to consider it as a way to connect and engage your season ticket holders, corporate partners, and fans.
