May 31st 2007
The West Virginia Power’s slogan is “It’s So Much More than Baseball,” and they’ve created a video and made it available on its website for fans to view.
The video is a neat idea for sports team looking to promote its sporting events as more of an event versus simply a game. You can view the video here.

Little By Little Each Day
May 23rd 2007
I remember the times I had to cram for exams in high school and college. I can also remember times when I needed to cram on the weekends to complete a project because I didn’t take the proper time to prepare the week before the deadline.
We all have our moments of procrastination, and it can be pretty stressful. (more…)

May 21st 2007
I’ve been around sports all my life and I’ve met an awful lot of confident people, as well as an lot of “cocky” people.
So when I read Jeffrey Gitomer’s quote that states “People who are cocky and arrogant say, ‘I know that’ and move along. People who are confident and positive ask themselves, ‘How good am I at that?’ and seek to improve.” (more…)

Value Group Leaders Like Season Holders
May 16th 2007
I’m often surprised more sports teams don’t value its group leaders as they do their season ticket holders.
If you have a group leader who brings in 25 people or you have a group leader who brings in 500 people, each could be viewed as valuable as a season ticket holder and multiple season ticket holders.

Do you offer a featured merchandise item of the game? Recently while attending the a Dallas Mavericks First Round Playoff game against the Warriors, I noticed in the game program they offered a Nowitzki authentic jersey as the featured item of the game.
In addition, they promote the featured item of the game to its season ticket holders, and reminded them they can receive a 15 percent discount on Maverick’s merchandise at the Fan Shops at American Airlines Center and at NorthPark Center by using their season ticket holder I.D. card. (more…)

Propose Solutions When Problems Arise
May 8th 2007
How many times have you been in a staff meeting and inevitably someone raises their hand and shares a problem they see with your business team or with your business in general?
It happens all too often, and I don’t mind the fact that someone raises their hand and shares a problem s(he) sees or is experiencing, but I do get frustrated when a person shares a problem and fails to share a solution. (more…)

You Must Use a Stamp
May 3rd 2007
While reading a SkyWest Magazine on a flight from Salt Lake City to Dallas, I came across a promotion that encouraged feedback from the readers.

Deliver the Greatest Performance
May 2nd 2007
Jeffrey Gitomer says there are four elements to delivering what he calls the “greatest performance (presentation) in the world,” and they include: 1. Rapport,: Can the audience relate to you?, 2. Need: Do your words fulfill the needs of the audience?; 3. Importance: Is the audience willing to try it?; and 4. Confidence: Can the audience relate to you?
