Biggest Ticket Giveaway in NCAA History

March 30th 2007

I read an advertisement in the USA Today promoting “The biggest ticket giveaway ever in NCAA history.”

Sounds pretty impressive and it is.

Pontiac is going to send 100 fans to see the 2007 NCAA Men’s Final Four.

In an effort to create foot traffic at each of its Pontiac dealerships, fans will need to go to their nearest Pontiac dealership to pick up a game piece.

Once they have their game piece, fans will need to enter the code from the game piece online to see if they’ve won Final Four tickets.

This is a great strategy for creating foot traffic for your sponsors, and one you may want to consider when developing your next sponsorship.

Official PC Partner of the NBA

February 19th 2007

I was paging through the USA Today and came across a full-page advertisement for the Official PC Partner of the NBA, Lenovo.

It touted how the PC supplier has recorded over 650,000 stats this season and that they created a new stat for fans and coaches that shows the best two players combined stats. (more…)

Integrate Sponsorships into Partial Plans

January 22nd 2007

I was reviewing an offer the other day – the Sprite Super Star Package – which features 12 games each with a “super star” that was highlighted next to their team in the newspaper advertisement.

I thought the sponsor tie in was a great way for the ticket and sponsorship departments to work together to add benefits to partial ticket plans and provide advertising for team sponsors. (more…)

Net Sponsorship Revenue

January 17th 2007

This past weekend, while giving my TV remote a workout, I came across a tennis match and the event sponsor’s logo on each side of the net – very tastefully displayed – caught my eye.

Colleges are always looking for opportunities to increase revenues for sports like field hockey, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, volleyball and other similar sports. Why not add sponsor logos to each of the nets for these sports?

Official Hotel of Your Sports Team

January 10th 2007

Some sports teams sign exclusive hotel partnerships where a hotel – or hotel chain – is the “official” hotel of the sports teams.

This is a great opportunity for hotel to promote it’s the “official” team hotel, so it can call each of the team’s opposing teams and extend a special team rate. The endorsement of the home team helps secure this business. (more…)

Bank supports Adopt-a-School Program

October 18th 2006

Wells Fargo is expanding on its established adopt-a-scholl program in conjunction with the San Francisco Giants.

The Bank has pledged $100 to schools for each run the Giants score. This sounds like a great way to score with a sponsorship as well as score support for schools.

Sox Score With 7-Eleven Sponsorship

October 12th 2006

The Chicago White Sox have scored with a creative three-year partnership with 7-Eleven Stores. The White Sox will start its weeknight games at 7:11 as a part of it 7-Eleven partnership.

The fact that every time the game time is announced in the media, on schedule cards, and in other promotional material makes it a great investment.  Also note the fact that 7-Eleven is “trying to develop sponsorships with other teams.”

Finally, at the time of this posting, the ESPN web fan poll of nearly 16,000 voters showed 70.7 percent did not mind the starting time being sponsored.

Do you have a presenting sponsor for your single-game ticket specials?

If so, good for you!  If not, why not?

The Atlanta Hawks have scored both ticket and sponsorship revenue with its Two for Tuesdays presented by Aaron’s Sales and Lease Ownership.  Fans receive two tickets for the price of one for every Tuesday home game when they purchase $45 or $25 seats.
