Field Trip to the Apple Store

While in an Apple Store, I observed a roped-off section of the store where signs read “Field Trip.” The students were all smiles in their Mac computer lab and I was curious to see what their fieldtrip included, so I wondered over and talked to one of the teachers.
The “field trip” is open to all teachers and they can schedule a one-hour session where each student has the opportunity to create a project on the state-of-the-art Mac computers using iLife and iWork software. (more…)
It’s Time to Go Green in Houston

The Houston Rockets have followed other professional sports teams and created “It’s Time to Go Green” environmental awareness campaign they are implementing throughout the month of March.
The Rockets have teamed with Waste Management as a presenting sponsor of the campaign, and Rockets forward Shane Battier and guard Aaron Brooks will join the University of Houston Environmental Club, HLS Enterprises, the Parks & Recreation Department, the Boys & Girls Club (Key Stone Club), Friends of Emancipation Park, AsakuraRobinson Associates and Gregg Elementary to plant trees in Emancipation Park as part of the “Keep Houston Beautiful” campaign. Work With Your Local PAL Chapter

Has your sports team partnered with its local Police Athletic/Activities League (PAL) chapter?
In short, PAL exists to “prevent juvenile crime and violence by providing civic, athletic, recreational and educational opportunities and resources to PAL Chapters.”
College and professional sports teams could reach out to PAL chapters in their local areas and collaboratively create partnerships that benefit the community, the sports team and all who choose to participate in the partnership. (more…)
