I’ve been blessed over the years to have some very special people in my life, and one of those people is Mrs. A, my high school English teacher.

Mrs. A, who most know as Mrs. Albright, has made it a point to keep in touch with me long after my graduation from high school.  She sent me care packages and emails throughout my college days, and called from time-to-time to encourage me.

Whenever I came home to visit, Mrs. A asked me to (more…)

There’s been a great deal of talk about the “down economy” and not a whole lot of positive conversations.  The economy should definitely raise concerns, and we all can do our part to be more fiscally responsible, but it also creates so many positive opportunities.

For those who know me, I enjoy keeping things positive, looking on the bright side, and finding the opportunity where a challenge or two have been presented. I never met a challenge I didn’t enjoy.  My feeling is, no matter what the outcome may be, there’s always (more…)

I received a video tribute via email from a friend titled, “Until We Meet Again” and I encourage you to take time to click on the “Until We Meet Again” link, watch the video, and reflect.

We have so much to be thankful for and this video is a vivid reminder of how blessed we all are to enjoy our freedom, and freely work and play every day. (more…)

What are you thankful for today?

So many times I find myself thinking about the one thing I don’t have versus all the wonderful things I should be thankful for in my life.

It’s easy to take things for granted, like our health, family, jobs, homes, and something as simple as the bed we sleep in each evening.  The freedom we all enjoy and many of the simple pleasures of life are some of things I think about during this season of Thanksgiving. (more…)

It’s hard for me to believe it’s been 20 years since the University of Tennessee women’s basketball team won its first National Championship in women’s basketball back in 1987, and it’s equally hard for me to believe Pat Summitt has been coaching for 33 seasons.

As they say, time flies when you’re having fun, and the Lady Vols and their fans had a whole lot of fun last night, as the Lady Vols earned its seventh National Championship in Cleveland. (more…)

Our Life, and the lives of our children, truly is a privilege. However, I know I haven’t always viewed it that way.

Sometimes in life it takes an event – or someone sharing an experience – that makes you think, “Wow, we’re so lucky and what a privilege life is.” (more…)

It’s been nearly three decades since I was a youth camper at Camp Timber-lee, but even after all these years, there’s not too many experiences I can’t recall from those summer days at the East Troy, Wisconsin Christian camp.

Just recently my wife and I were discussing summer Christian camp sign-up for our son, and fun memories flooded my head of meeting new friends, swimming at the lake, horseback riding on the trails, participating in morning Bible studies, singing as a group by the camp fires, and the incredible evening speakers.

It was just the experiences and influences I needed during that time in my life. (more…)

Have you told everyone “thank you” who has impacted you and your life in a special way?

I recently lost a very close friend.  A very special man who I considered a role model; an honorable man; someone who cared and did more for others than he ever did for himself.

Not so long ago something motivated me to fly to his home and express my gratitude for all he did for me over the years and the impact he had on my life.

Without warning, my friend was gone and although saddened by his departure, I was very thankful I had the opportunity to thank him for his selfless acts, the time he took for me, and the role model he was in my life.

Today, I encourage you to take time to thank those who’ve impacted you in a special way.  You never know what tomorrow may bring and based on my recent experience, you’ll no doubt be glad you took the opportunity.
