I watched the movie “Wild Hogs, ” which is about four middle aged guys venturing out on a one-week road trip on Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
I had heard mixed reviews for the film, and although I don’t own a motorcycle as I once did in college, I could easily relate to the film in a number of ways and laughed aloud quite a bit…even though I was flying on a plane.
Each of the guys were different in many ways, but a common need each of them had (and benefited from) was shutting everything down in their busy and stressful lives and riding across the country on a one-week road trip.
As someone who has rarely taken an unplanned trip to the store, let alone across the country, I could see the benefits of an unplanned trip.
Now, I just need to figure out how to pull off such a trip – unplanned – while also suggesting to my wife that she attempt a similar unplanned trip with her girlfriends. There’s no question a trip like this could do us – and likely most anyone – a lot of good, especially since we’d be laughing most of the time.
