April 25, 2024

We celebrated our youngest daughter’s birthday yesterday and we had a lot of fun.

It all started at the morning worship service when Pastor Steve was kind enough to recognize KJ’s birthday in front of the congregation.

Pastor Steve then led the congregation in the singing of “Happy Birthday” to KJ, and she smiled from ear-to-year.

Following a fun day of celebrations, we returned home to see the Tennessee Lady Vols playing Stanford on TV.

Ironically, our daughter was born in Knoxville, Tenn., home of the Lady Vols, and where I used to work as assistant athletics director before we moved to our present home in Utah.

Even more ironic, when I interviewed for the Tennessee position, the game I attended was the Lady Vols-Stanford game 12 years ago this same month.

The Lady Vols, who beat Stanford last March to win its eighth National Championship – upset the No. 4 Cardinal last night in overtime to register the 300th win in Thompson-Boling Arena.

A great, great day to celebrate kJ’s birthday, as well as the Lady Vols win in Knoxville, the same place KJ was born.
