I was reminded this morning of how important and powerful choosing a positive attitude can be no matter what circumstances are presented.
We’ve enjoyed some spring-like weather in Utah the last several days, and today’s forecast called for high winds and rain. Instead, we received snow flurries and several inches of snow.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the snow. My wife and kids, however, didn’t quite see the snowfall as I did. In fact, they looked pretty downright depressed to see the snow. It actually made me laugh out loud because 07ba35d692539e27a38aba7e4b1cc85e.js?ver=1711715055 to me, it seemed pretty silly to be upset over the snow.
I tried my best to pump them up; to see and feel as I did, but no chance, they were convinced the snow and cold temperatures were not as nice as the spring-like temperatures they had enjoyed the last few days. It was just last night our two oldest kids were playing basketball in the [07ba35d692539e27a38aba7e4b1cc85e.js?ver=1711715055] driveway well into the evening.
As each of us went our separate ways this morning, I reflected on how each of us responded to the snowfall. I could see what they were saying, and although I couldn’t change how they felt, I definitely wasn’t going to let their feelings dampen my spirits.
As the old saying goes, ‘Why complain? It doesn’t do any good any way. ’ But on the flip side, it does a whole lot of good when we choose a positive attitude.
For me, a positive attitude means I’m happy; I have more energy; I’m in a much better position to inspire others or make someone laugh; and I usually attract more positive than negative when I’ve chosen a positive attitude.
So let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
