Schedule Card Distribution
January 9th 2007
Many sports teams create a schedule card – some are simply a picture with the schedule on the back, and others have a single and multiple panels with everything from advertisements to promotions schedules.
How do you distribute your schedule cards? When I ask most sports teams this question it’s usually an interns responsibility to distribute the thousands of schedule cards wherever businesses will make them available to their customers.
Is this really the best way to distribute your team’s schedule cards? Of course not, but year after year, this is how many sports teams continue to distribute its schedule cards.
What if you developed a schedule card distribution strategy and it included targeting fans who most likely would attend your sporting events? What if you tied in the sponsors who’ve invested in the schedule cards to assist with distributing to their customers? What if you actually selected schedule card advertisers whose customers you’d like to reach by placing a schedule card in their hands?
I encourage you to take time during the off season to develop a schedule card distribution plan (as well as a plan to replenish schedule cards) prior to next season.
