Pooch on the Pond

February 16th 2007

I had heard of “Bark in the Park” where baseball teams host fans and their dogs for a game, but I had never heard of “Pooch on the Pond,” that is until I came across an ad promoting a game between the Utah Grizzlies and wouldn’t you know it, the Long Beach…Ice Dogs; a nice tie-in with the opposing team’s nickname.

It’s a two for one offer where fans purchasing a ticket, you guessed it, receive one free ticket for their pooch.

Another neat tie-in for this event is having dogs who have been left at animal shelters available at the game on the concourse for fans to see and adopt.

A neat twist to this game was what they called the “Ice Pet Pageant” where fans and their dogs paraded on the ice – covered with carpet – during intermission.

How many times do you think they played “Who Let the Dogs Out” for this event?
