It’s all About the Shoes

March 23rd 2007

I read an advertisement in The Republican (Springfield, Mass) newspaper and believe the event – or elements of the event – may be a natural for a women’s sporting event to host independently or in conjunction with a sporting game and include a game ticket.

The event – “It’s all About the Shoes” – will be on April 12 at The Log Cabin Banquet & Meeting House in Springfield.

The event will feature Yvonne Williams, author of “It’s all About the Shoes,” a book of women’s shoe stories.

The event starts at 5:30 pm with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres (cash bar) and shopping in an exhibitor gallery (The Republican is selling sponsorships and exhibit space).

Some of the exhibitors include Mary Kay Cosmetics, a laser center, a few day spas, a nutrition coach, shoe stores, cosmetic stores, and the Women’s Business Owners Alliance.

Dinner starts at 7 pm and tickets for the event are $50 for reserved seating. Attendees are encouraged to bring a pair of gently worn shoes, which will be donated to “Dress for Success.”

The ad reads: “Invite your friends, wear your favorite shoes and kick up your heels for an evening of fun. If you have a shoe story to tell, we’ll invite you to show off your shoes and tell your story.”

Attendees also have the opportunity to purchase a one-year subscription to “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” magazine for only $5 with each ticket order (regularly $9.95).

Again, a neat event that could compliment most women’s sporting events, while assisting with selling tickets.
