Create a Season Highlight DVD for Fans

February 1st 2007

If you watch ESPN, you likely have viewed the Sports Illustrated commercial where they feature – as they do each year – a National Championship offer, and this year it’s the Florida Gators.

The offer was available immediately following the National Championship as if ESPN knew the Gators would defeat Ohio State. However, it’s likely they created one spot for each, and whoever won the game, they were prepared to run the commercial.

Well, the Florida Gators have won a National Championship before, so they knew – prior to the National Championship kick-off – exactly how they would leverage a National Championship victory if they were fortunate to win the game.

With the help of the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), schools like Florida and many other college athletic programs around the country, are prepared to take full advantage of winning the National Championship.  I know first-hand, because I was fortunate in 1997 and 1998 to work with CLC before and after Tennessee won three National Championships – two in women’s basketball and one in football.

I recently visited the Florida Gators web site and came across its National Championship DVD offer, and it was evident CLC and Florida had planned well with all the Championship merchandise available on the Gators web site and around the country. If you go to the DVD page on the Gators site, you’ll find not only this year’s DVD, but the Gators previous National Championship DVD as well.

But you don’t have to win a National Championship to offer a highlight DVD each year. Simply plan ahead for a successful season, shoot footage throughout the season, and be in a position to put together a highlight DVD when the team does well and you can either offer as a stand alone or as a season ticket holder renewal gift.
