A Time and Project Management System

January 12th 2009

I have the opportunity to work with some amazing and talented sports executives around the country who are eager to be successful each day.

The challenge many times for executives – and I’ve found this true with veteran execs as well as those just starting out – is that many have not learned how to successfully manage their day so that they prioritize and successfully execute tasks, responsibilities and opportunities daily.

If you don’t have a time/project management system or a daily routine that consistently positions you each day to successfully prioritize and execute all that you should, I encourage you to find one today.

Identify the one person in or outside your organization who has the best time/project management system, and ask if they will mentor or work with you over the next 30-40 days to create your own successful time/project management system.

    Hi,

I agree with this! Especially discipline is most crucial in sports whihc directly leads to well managed projects!
I however use a project management software DeskAway, what do you think about those??

Ravi: Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I agree and do recommend utilizing project management (PM) tools. As you know, there are many to choose from and some customized/industry specific.

They’re terrific for managing/tracking projects, but as you know, the PM tools (as well as CRM and other tools) are only as effective as the time invested in training and managing to properly utilize the tools.

It’s important to ensure the basics of planning (time, staff, activities, resources, finances), prioritizing, communication, delegation, managing/coaching (inform, motivate, encourage), are incorporated into training/day-to-day operation so the PM tool is used and maximized to its full potential.

In addition, personal day planner systems can be beneficial for maintaining schedules/appointments (work/personal), expenses (work/personal), notes, travel (work/personal), and other day-to-day tasks and responsibilities.
