Struggling With Procrastination

November 5th 2007

Q. If there’s one thing I would like to change it’s the fact that I struggle with procrastination.  What tip, or tips, do you have for breaking someone of the procrastination habit?

A. Most people struggle with procrastination from time-to-time.  One of the strategies I encourage executives to try is pairing up with a fellow staff member and be accountability partners.  Each morning, share with one another what three things (including your least favorite task) that you would like to accomplish for the day, and then get together at the end of the day to share with one another what you accomplished.

Give this a try for 30 consecutive business days and see if it makes a difference, and whether you both have benefited to the point you’ve each developed daily routines and habits to complete your most important tasks first without procrastinating on your daily responsibilities.
