St. Patrick’s Day Promotions & Ticket Offers

March 14th 2006

Q. With St. Patrick’s Day coming up in a few days, what are some ticket sales strategies and promotions we could implement?

A. Thanks for the timely question and I hope you have enough time to implement an idea or two you may not have considered from this list.

The obvious ticket offer is a special discount for those showing an ID with the names Patrick, Pat, Patty, Patricia, O’Sullivan…okay, you get the idea.

If you have an airline corporate partner, and have the ability to give away a pair of fight vouchers, you may want to offer a trip for two to Ireland.  Not only would this be a great giveaway, but it has the potential to attract a large number of entries and assist you with building your prospective season ticket buyer database.

Hosting a live Irish band could be a lot of fun for fans.

“Kiss Me, I’m Irish” buttons and/or stickers given away to fans as they enter your facility are always a hit with kids and adults.

How about a special ticket discount for anyone showing a valid Irish Passport?  If an Irish citizen is at your event on or near St. Patrick’s Day and not enjoying themselves in Dublin, don’t you think you should offer them a ticket discount?  Heck, you might even throw in a box of Lucky Charms!

Photo opportunities with St. Patrick – or your mascot dressed in Irish attire – could be fun for your young and not so young fans.

“Gold Rush” for the kids – a scavenger hunt for gold (actually candy coins) could be fun for the youth attending your event.  Just hold back those parents!

Your turn to take a shot!

What fun promotions and ticket sales programs will your sports organization be offering on or near St. Patrick’s Day?
