Best Games of the Tournament

March 26th 2007

Q. What game have you enjoyed the most so far in the NCAA Tournament?

A. For me, there are two games that I really enjoyed this past week, and both may be games that not many people had the opportunity to enjoy as much as I did.

The first one was when the Ole Miss Lady Rebels upset No. 1 Maryland. At the time, there were very few people – other than Head Coach Carol Ross, the Ole Miss assistant coaches .and the Ole Miss student-athletes – who believed the No. 7-seed Lady Rebels had a chance to knock off the defending National Champions and No. 1-seed Terps.

But, the Lady Rebels relentless defensive proved otherwise.

Next up was No. 3-seeded and the 2007 Big  12 Champion Oklahoma Sooners and its all-everything Courtney Paris, who had recorded an NCAA record 60 double-doubles going into the Mississippi-Oklahoma game.

Well, Paris recorded her 61st double-double against Ole Miss, but Armintie Price, who you likely have not heard of and who will likely will be named an All-American, countered with a double-double of her own, netting 31 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Rebels to an Elite Eight appearance against a familiar SEC opponent, Tennessee.

It should be one heck of a ball game tomorrow night with the winner advancing to the Final Four in Cleveland. I can’t wait to see the game!
