Winona State, winners of an NCAA Division II men’s basketball record 56 consecutive games dating back to last season when they won the National Championship and my alma mater, won a hard-fought game in overtime last night over Central Missouri to advance to tomorrow’s NCAA Division II National Championship game against Barton (Wilson, NC) College.

The Bulldogs, 30-5 and winners of 20 consecutive games, face Winona State in the title game tomorrow (Sat) at 1 pm (ET).

WSU and Barton, each trailing late their respective semi-final games, scored come from behind victories to advance to the title game, which will be telecast nationally on CBS.

Winona State and Barton faced one another a year ago in the Elite Eight opening round and WSU came away with the overtime victory over the Bulldogs.

Will Winona State extend its NCAA Division II record win streak to 57 consecutive victories?  Will the Warriors defeat the Bulldogs for their second consecutive NCAA Division II National Championship?  Or, will Barton win the rematch and take home its first NCAA Division II National Championship?

Pull up a chair tomorrow (Sat), tune in to CBS at 1 pm ET, and cheer on the No. 1 and defending National Champion Warriors.  Hopefully, when the dust settles and the final horn sounds, the student-athletes in purple and white will be dancing and celebrating its second consecutive National Championship.
