I’ve never been known as someone who enjoys a “relaxing day” since I have a hard time sitting still, let alone relaxing.

However, leading up to a weekend trip with my wife, I convinced myself – but not my wife – that I was going to completely shut down (on work) and focus on relaxing and enjoying the trip.

I’m happy to say – and much to the amazement of my wife – I did it and actually enjoyed it.

It was only a few days, but for me, it felt like a full week.

We even went horse-back riding in the mountains for a few hours, and to my surprise, I enjoyed that as well.

I was hoping my wife wanted to ride ATVs, but instead she chose horse-back riding, and rides with Rusty and Bell for two-hours in the Utah mountains was an awesome escape from a traditional day of work. I literally checked out and just enjoyed the ride and the beautiful scenery.

I didn’t even pick up a book and read, which is also a first.

I didn’t think it would be possible to completely shut-down and check out for a weekend, but all-in-all, it was it was actually a lot of fun and I really enjoyed the quality time with my wife doing some things (and not doing some things) I didn’t think I’d enjoy doing.
