Technology amazes me every day.
I’m new to social networking. I joined my first online business network – LinkedIn – in January, and some months later Plaxo. Most recently, I joined Facebook and I’ve been impressed by many of the innovative “applications” created by the three social networks.
Innovative technology is everywhere, and as a business traveler, I’ve noticed the airlines introducing numerous innovative technology advancements this year to assist with speeding up check-in procedures and allowing travelers to be more efficient.
Delta, for example, introduced online and mobile check-in, improved the technology of its airport kiosk check-in, and soon will introduce broadband Wi-Fi access to customers on board.
Delta’s goal is to make Wi-Fi available on domestic flights by the summer of 2009.
In addition, they’ve installed USB power ports in first class and the first 10 rows of economy cabins on selected planes.
It’s obvious Delta and other companies are staying a step ahead with innovation, as great companies do to stay on top.

Innovation is fun, isn’t it? Do you recall when a six minute fax spinning on a tube was innovation? Or the clinkety-clank of the telex machines sending pulses to a similar machine across the globe?
Somehow, it seems like we still are getting busier. But, man, we are getting so much more done!

It truly is fascinating. I do remember asking myself “what did we ever do before the fax?” as it screeched like a bird sending page after page. Now, messages are sent instantly; truly amazing.
Yes, we still seem to be just as busy, if not busier, and we can credit that to all those “innovative” technology toys we’ve “invested” in over the yrs!
