Recently my wife made a great decision while shopping with our kids when she did not buy a T-shirt for our youngest daughter.
I’m not sure what stopped her. Likely another shirt that caught our daughter’s attention, but I was quite surprised she didn’t choose to get it because she was so excited to tell me what the shirt said when she returned home from the mall.
With a big grin on her face, she said it read: “Dad, you’re in trouble when I grow up.”
As if I need to be reminded of that the fact with a T-shirt!
I have plenty of daily reminders of how I may be “in trouble” when our youngest daughter grows up. Every time I catch myself shaking my head when she is testing us, I think back to my childhood days when I tested my Mom on many occasions. I know she’s probably laughing because she knows “what goes around…comes around, ” and I feel like on some days I’m getting a double dose.
That’s okay, though, because there’s nothing I’d trade for all the wonderful experiences – including those fun challenges our kids provide…double dose and all.
